Kool Quilts: January 2014
http://koolqlt.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Friday, January 03, 2014. A straddler and 2013 Recap. This one is on my 2014 UFO list, because I really didn't think I'd have time to finish before the end of the year. I put the last few stitches on the binding in the afternoon of the 31st. So, is it a finish for 2013, or a UFO buster for 2014? Can I have both? This is the Christmas mystery for 2013 from San Francisco Stitch Co. Here's images of some of the things I worked on this year:. Bow tie block challenge. The bow ties are 3 inches finished. Perha...

Kool Quilts: Ordination Banner
http://koolqlt.blogspot.com/2014/08/ordination-banner.html
Monday, August 18, 2014. I started by Googling images for inspiration. I landed on a myrtle plant image, that had leaves that were kind of heart shaped, and three per whorl. EQ7 and I went to work with that. This probably would have gone smoother and quicker had I not been teaching myself as I went along. Here's my draft. Pieced background, appliques on layer 2. The design wall was a huge help when it came time to assemble the background. Spot check with templates. I used the wash-away applique sheets.

Kool Quilts: Spools & Buttons
http://koolqlt.blogspot.com/2014/08/spools-buttons.html
Monday, August 18, 2014. I started off with an entirely different pattern from a Whimsicals. I should figure out a good way to make the EQ images more scrappy, although the one red button is cool. I digitized an embroidery file for the buttonholes, to make short work of those. I started this one in 2012, so it didn't ferment as long as some other projects on my UFO list! Have I mentioned how much I love my design wall? The back. I have a thing about using up leftovers. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Kool Quilts: August 2013
http://koolqlt.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
Friday, August 16, 2013. Wouldn't you like to move out of this? Well, most of the time it wasn't quite this bad, but you know what I mean. I've been working around some of this for quite a while. The youngest left the nest back in April, and my dear husband suggested I move into his former room. This room is in the basement, with no windows, and very dark. I was reluctant at first, since the room was so very dark, even darker than the room I've been in. At least that one has a window. Take a look with me:.

Kool Quilts: December 2012
http://koolqlt.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Saturday, December 01, 2012. The original landing had less depth, and the steps led straight out from the door. We made the landing deeper, and moved the steps along the wall so we can have a hand rail. The steps are wider now, too. A fan/heater combo. The patio thermometer confirms the comfort level. Enough space for more totes under the step. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Thank you for visiting! Long-Arm Quilting by Kool Quilts. Promote Your Page Too. The Kool Quilts Pin board. Kool Quilts: Gifts of Grace
http://koolqlt.blogspot.com/2010/08/gifts-of-grace.html
Saturday, August 21, 2010. I finished the first block of the Gifts of Grace BOM. Completely last weekend when we were camping. After washing out the campfire smoke smell, it pressed up pretty nicely! Now I'm only 7 months behind. I finished the fabric applique portion of about 4 more blocks last weekend, but no further stitching on them besides that. 2 son is struggling to adjust to things, and as change is not on his happy list, this will be a challenge for him. Kool Quilts: Northwinds Color Sample
http://koolqlt.blogspot.com/2014/08/northwinds-color-sample.html
Monday, August 18, 2014. Started in 2000, finished Easter 2014. I used a series of hand-dyed color samples. There were 64 shades done with 3 values of 3 primaries. It was interesting to see how my skills developed since 2000. There's a lot of pointless triangles here! Believe it or not, a plain back! Hand quilted with a Baptist Fan motif. Now I need to find a new handwork project! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Thank you for visiting! Long-Arm Quilting by Kool Quilts. Promote Your Page Too.

Kool Quilts: September 2013
http://koolqlt.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Wednesday, September 04, 2013. Here's the story on the chest of drawers now in my sewing room. Dad was a good one for re-purposing. The blue on the bottom of the drawer gives that clue. The blue is the color I remember from the kitchen. I don't remember this yellow, though. Look at how red the grain has become in this pine. I used some clear wipe-on poly to refinish the fronts. The sides of the cabinet were a rough-grained plywood that wasn't going to "pretty up" so I painted it. Thank you for visiting!
