Tuesday, June 17, 2014. It's OK NOT to Share. Book Linky! I'm linkin' up today with Deanna Jump to share a parenting book that I have pretty much fallen in love with. No I'm not yet a parent, but the "renegade rules" in this book are extremely applicable to life in the classroom. 1 Stop Forcing Kids to Share. Why yes, that girl was me. Luckily, I learned how to keep my stray hands focused on my own food, and we are happily married. And now that I don't grab for his food without permission, he. I know I'm...

Kindergarten SuperKids: Ways to Make a Hexagon
http://www.kindergartensuperkids.com/2013/02/ways-to-make-hexagon.html
Tuesday, February 5, 2013. Ways to Make a Hexagon. After we've studied all of the 2D shapes, I love this lesson about putting them together to create hexagons in different ways. I get such good insight into my students' general understanding of geometry with this fun and challenging activity! Some of them couldn't find 6 ways in the allotted time, and that was just fine. The kids were shocked when I told them there are actually 8 total ways to make a hexagon using our pattern blocks! While this lesson is...

Whooo Loves Kindergarten?: My Classroom and a FREEBIE
http://whoooloveskindergarten.blogspot.com/2013/08/my-classroom-and-freebie.html
Monday, August 19, 2013. My Classroom and a FREEBIE. Well, I survived the first full week of school. I love my class because I only have 15 students this year. That is THE LOWEST number of kids I've ever had since I started teaching 20 years ago. I had 27 last year, and I spent the entire year feeling like a chicken with its head cut off who ran into a dog chasing its tail! That was not a good feeling. This is my Back-to-School Bulletin Board outside in the hallway. This is the very famous Monkey Butt!

Kindergarten SuperKids: January 2014

Monday, January 20, 2014. I hope you had a wonderful holiday today! I love our MLK activities at school. My sweet kiddos made paper art projects and wrote about their own dreams for our world. Even though we can celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr.'s dream-come-true, we know that there is still sadness and injustices in our world. Take a look at their precious projects and heart-felt wishes. I have a dream. "that everyone would love each other.". I have a dream. "all kids would be loved.". For His Glory Tea...
